welcome to the lamest blog i have ever kept. hopefully there will be some improvements and additions to come when i get time. the pesky nclex monopolized all my time up until 2 days ago so this really hasnt received much of my attention sadly. i always have fun making them and writing in them so maybe if i get the chance i can toy with it alittle bit.
lets just take a moment to familiarize ourselves with the page shall we? to the immediate right, you have a really cool quote i came across while trolling some of my travel webpages. no idea who said it, but right now at 1am the day before i leave, that doesnt really matter to me. below that is the cartoon version of myself in egypt. pretty sweet huh?
the third block down on the right is probably going to be one of my personal favorite parts of the blog. most of you know how i love love love my music (i have over 3000 songs on my ipod currently and i download more each week). i got the inspiration from entertainment weekly which has a blurb in its music section each week called "download this" which is a handful of songs each week that the music editors are digging. for the purposes of my blog, i have decided to hijack this idea and modify it to serve my particular purpose. what may that be you ask? well, i like to make playlists on itunes of music that inspires memories of particular moments etc (i even burnt cds for some of my travelmates when i did the aussie one). this time, instead of waiting until i get home to do it, ive decided to make the playlist while im gone and hopefully add a song each day if i can find an inspiration. and, for those of you who arent privy to how my mind works, ill explain to you why i picked it.
for example: the first song on the list is a great song by the band trooper. it pretty much sums up my whole trip... im here for a good time not a long time. see how this works? you'll catch on soon enough if you havent already.
another fun daily feature i think im going to engage in is random fact throwing - known to many as the fact of the day etc. knowing my penchant for useless knowledge and trivia, do you really expect anything different?
and to kick things off here is your fact: i have no idea how much my suitcase weights, but it is actually partially empty and will be even more so when i unload some particular goods im transporting to my expatriated friends. also, i managed to put together 3 weeks worth of outfits that only required me to bring 8 pairs of shoes. most of which are flip flops (shocker) but are necessary depending on the pairing of top and bottom for the day. and cut me some slack... im going through 3 distinctly different climates on this trip (seriously, what was i thinking?).
ok so that wasnt the best fact ever, so maybe you can substitute this one instead: the title of this entry is how to say hello in each of the 3 countries i will be visiting. consider yourselves enculturated now.
i think thats about it for now. its 130 am and i desperately need to go get some food. in all the packing and prepping craziness of the day, i sort of forgot to eat (ok, i didnt forget... im not stupid - i love food) i just didnt have the time to get everything done (and i might be a little bit OCD using my mad packing skills as well which tends to take a bit longer). so, food here i come.
a few sidenotes:
as always, please dont let the lack of proper punctuation and capitalization annoy you too much. i cant be bothered with trivial things like capitalizing everything that needs it. it has taken me long enough to get over that stupid APA rule of only using one space between sentences that i dont want to try to do this...
ive got an international mobile phone now. its a british number, so i would advise you to ONLY call it if you a) have $500 you want to spend on a direct call to a british mobile phone or b) its a really bit emergency that can't wait. if (a) is your answer, im going to tell you you to find a way to better spend your money and if you cant think of one, just give it to me and ill find one for you. ill be posting the number in the sidebar soon. maybe ill get a few links in there too. ugh... so much to do so little time.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: please email me (schroeder_ae@hotmail.com) . i wont be making very many calls, and surprisingly, i do miss home a tad bit when im off and away so its always great to hear from people and get my gossip fix even when im on the other side of the world. i also like feedback. feedback is good.
so, in closing, im super excited to be off to explore both new and familiar places. i hope you are excited to read along with me. happy trails!
bagel and cream cheese here i come...
